Success Measure
Your organisation’s leaders fully understand the benefits of digital technology and have the confidence and capability to drive forward digital transformation, sharing and learning from best practice.
Overview
Good leadership helps drive digital transformation across whole organisations. Setting out a workable strategy and clear vision for how to use digital technology is essential to digital transformation and being well led is key to setting both a provider’s vision and a workable strategy. It allows social care providers to harness the power of digital technology and results in tangible benefits for people who draw on social care and the staff that deliver care and support.
Good leadership, management and governance of adult social care organisations are vital to supporting sustainable digital innovation, understanding risks, and effectively managing change. By engaging with good practice, learning from and proactively sharing with others across the sector, sector leaders can improve understanding of digital and technology in social care. They can also use this improved understanding of evidence to make better choices when investing in technologies for their service. This will help guarantee services better meet people’s needs - participating in professional networks at local, regional or national level has been shown to help facilitate this.
Using data safely and effectively is a core element of leading digital transformation. For example, safely using data to inform and improve decision-making and planning, and to understand the ethical and legal issues that can arise through using digital technology, including issues of consent. Likewise, secure data sharing for direct care purposes can help improve efficiency and quality of care. Care leaders grasp information governance when sharing data for secondary purposes is vital.
