Sunnyside House - What Good Looks Like

Sunnyside House

Sunnyside House is an independence transition home based in Thurrock in Essex and specialises in residential care providing people with life skills and transition to independent living. They employ approximately 60 staff, and provide respite care, day services, domiciliary care and supported living services.

Sam Grimes, Registered Manager at Sunnyside Home Care, completed the digital ‘What good looks like’ self-assessment as part of a review of best practice in their use of technology.

Sam found the self-assessment was very useful in highlighting key areas of importance for organisations to focus on in their digital journey, and to help Sunnyside continue in its own journey in using technology to support people’s care.

The self-assessment tool helped to prompt and steer their organisation in exploring and developing further links with wider organisations, as part of their digital journey and access to wider opportunities for learning and training.

Sam found that the self-assessment gave insights and steer into how their organisation can explore opportunities for broader peer-to-peer learning and gave visibility to wider e-learning opportunities for staff. The self-assessment acted as a stepping stone to identifying new learning opportunities via the ‘What Good Looks Like’ online guidance and resources.

Going forward, Sunnyside House is continuing to build and develop their workforce and embrace new technologies in the delivery of care, and alongside the support of broader guidance and information via the self-assessment, continuing to develop staff peer to peer training and move towards greater digitisation.
