Wolfe House Care Home - What Good Looks Like

Wolfe House Care Home is based in Oxted in Surrey and provides residential and personalised dementia care. Chelsea Hudson, Registered Manager for Wolfe House completed the digital What good looks like (WGLL) self-assessment as part of a review of best practice in their use of technology.
Chelsea discovered that the self-assessment gave valuable prompts and insights in areas of data protection and cybersecurity against the WGLL framework, such as visibility of the support and learning available through the Better Security, Better Care programme.
She found that the self-assessment helped steer them towards nominating a digital champion who can provide support with the day-to-day use of existing devices and applications, including their care planning and rota systems. The self-assessment helped to raise emphasis around how to better use and optimise the use of technology in the delivery of care, and exploring new ways of working.
Chelsea highlighted that the self-assessment was able to identify broader areas of learning and training, both for digital champions and for continuing professional development of staff. She added,
It's a very simple way to identify what is going well, and areas of development
Going forward, Chelsea will be engaging with wider resources under the Better Security, Better Care programme, look to nominate a digital champion to support their use of technology within their home, and identify new areas of learning and training around data protection, cybersecurity and digital champions training,
